Indications/Uses
Prevention of gastroenteritis caused by rotavirus.
Dosage/Direction for Use
2 doses: 1st dose may be administered from age of 6 wk w/ at least 4 wk interval between doses. Vaccination course should be completed by the age of 24 wk.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. History of intussusception. Patients w/ uncorrected congenital malformation (eg, Meckel's diverticulum) of GIT that would predispose intussusception; severe combined immunodeficiency disorder.
Special Precautions
Not to be injected. Not for use in adults. Does not protect against gastroenteritis due to other pathogens than rotavirus. Postpone vaccination in patients suffering from acute severe febrile illness, diarrhea or vomiting. Infants w/ GI illnesses. Individuals w/ immunodeficient close contacts eg, individuals w/ malignancies, immunocompromised or receiving immunosuppressive therapy. Perform medical history & clinical exam before vaccination. Promptly report any symptoms indicative of intussusception eg, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bloody stools, abdominal bloating &/or high fever. Observe careful hygiene for contacts of recent vaccinees when changing nappies in childn.

Slightly reduced immune response w/ oral polio vaccine.
