Indications/Uses
Acute diarrhea in adults & childn >2 yr in addition to oral rehydration. Symptomatic treatment of chronic functional diarrhea & pain associated w/ functional bowel diseases in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Acute diarrhea On ave 3 sachets daily for 7 days. May double the daily dose at the start of treatment. Symptomatic treatment of chronic functional diarrhea & pain associated w/ functional bowel diseases 3 sachets daily. Childn ≥2 yr Acute diarrhea 4 sachets daily for 3 days, then 2 sachets daily for 4 days.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Preferably taken between meals. Contents of sachet may be swallowed undiluted or mixed into ½ glass of water or w/ semi-liqd food (eg, broth, compote, puree, baby food).
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Avoid chronic use. History of severe chronic constipation. Rehydrate w/ plenty of salty or sweet fluids (ave daily water requirement in adult is 2 L). Intake of food while diarrhea persists. Not recommended during pregnancy. Lactation. Avoid use in infants & childn <2 yr or weighing <12 kg.
