Description
Each film coated tablet contains: Clopidogrel (as bisulphate) USP 75 mg.
Clopidogrel bisulphate (Clopifar) is a thienopyridine class inhibitor of P2Y12 ADP platelet receptors. Chemically it is methyl (+)-(S)-α-(2-chlorophenyl)-6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-5(4H)acetate sulfate (1:1). The empirical formula of clopidogrel bisulfate is C16H16ClNO2S•H2SO4, and its molecular weight is 419.9.
Clopidogrel bisulphate is a white to off-white powder. It is freely soluble in water and in methanol; practically insoluble in ether. Clopidogrel bisulphate (Clopifar) for oral administration is provided as light brown, round, biconvex, film-coated tablets containing 99.812 mg of clopidogrel bisulphate which is the molar equivalent of 75 mg of clopidogrel base.
Each tablet contains magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinised starch, colloidal silicone dioxide and purified talc as inactive ingredients. The light brown film coating contains hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (15CPS), dichloromethane, isopropyl alcohol, purified talc, propylene glycol, titanium dioxide, polyethylene glycol 6000 and red oxide of iron.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Colour: Red Oxide of Iron & Titanium Dioxide.
