Azelastine HCl 137 mcg, fluticasone propionate 50 mcg
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of moderate to severe allergic rhinitis & rhino-conjunctivitis in adults & childn ≥12 yr where combination use of intranasal antihistamine & glucocorticoids is appropriate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 1 actuation in each nostril bid (morning & evening).
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Patients w/ TB, any type of untreated infection, or recent surgical operation or injury to the nose or mouth. Impaired adrenal function. Contains benzalkonium Cl (may cause oedema of the nasal mucosa w/ long term use). Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended for use in childn <12 yr. Fluticasone propionate: Systemic effects including Cushing's syndrome, Cushingoid features, adrenal suppression, growth retardation in childn & adolescents, cataract & glaucoma, particularly w/ high doses for prolonged periods. Closely monitor patients w/ change in vision or w/ history of increased ocular pressure, glaucoma &/or cataracts. Avoid concomitant use w/ ritonavir. Concurrent use w/ other forms of corticosteroid treatment. Severe liver disease.
Adverse Reactions
Epistaxis. Headache, dysgeusia, unpleasant smell.
Drug Interactions
Fluticasone propionate: Increased plasma conc w/ ritonavir. Increased risk of systemic side effects w/ cobicistat-containing products. Increased systemic exposure w/ ketoconazole. Azelastine HCl: May enhance sedative effect w/ sedative or central nervous medications.
