d-Alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E).
Description
Each softgel capsule contains 400 I.U. of d-Alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E).
Indications/Uses
It is used in the prevention and treatment of Vitamin E deficiency.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult dose: Take an oral dose of 1 capsule once or twice daily with food or as prescribed by the physician.
Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as remembered. Stop the missed dose if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose.
Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.
Overdosage
Symptoms of overdose may include: stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, tiredness, and blurred vision.
In case of accidental overdose, discontinue use and seek medical assistance immediately.
Contraindications
If the patient has any of the following medical conditions or other medical conditions not listed as follows, ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for them to take Vitamin E: anemia (low red blood cells); a bleeding or blood clotting disorder such as hemophilia; liver disease; kidney disease; any allergies; an eye disorder called retinitis pigmentosa; a Vitamin K deficiency; high cholesterol or triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood); a history of cancer; a history of stroke or blood clot; if the patient needs surgery or has recently had surgery.
If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, do not use this Medicine without a doctor's advice.
Special Precautions
Swallow capsules whole. Do not crush or chew.
Use this Medicine exactly as directed on the label or as prescribed by the doctor. Do not use in smaller or larger amounts. Do not use longer than recommended.
WHEN SHOULD THE PATIENT CONSULT THE DOCTOR: Consult a doctor if the patient has taken this Medicine more than they should have or if they get any side effects from taking the Medicine.
Adverse Reactions
The following may be associated with the use of Vitamin E: blurred vision; diarrhea; dizziness; headache; nausea or stomach cramps; unusual tiredness or weakness.
Drug Interactions
Avoid taking other vitamins, mineral supplements, and nutritional products with this Medicine without the doctor's advice. Before taking this Medicine, tell the doctor if the patient is using any of the following medicines, other medicines not listed as follows, and medicines that they have started or stopped using for a treatment: cholestyramine; mineral oil; Orlistat (Alli, Xenical); warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven).
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 25°C. Protect from light.
