Quadrivalent flu vaccine (inactivated, types A & B subvirion, 2020 Southern Hemisphere strains)
Indications/Uses
Prevention of flu disease caused by flu types A & B viruses in patients ≥6 mth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Childn ≥9 yr 1 dose of 0.5 mL, 36 mth-8 yr 1 or 2 doses, 0.5 mL each, 6-35 mth 1 or 2 doses, 0.25 mL each; if 2 doses, administer at least 1 mth apart.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to flu vaccine, egg protein.
Special Precautions
Guillain-Barre syndrome, anaphylactic reactions. Immunocompromised patients including those on immunosuppressive therapy. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <6 mth. Elderly ≥65 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Inj site pain or tenderness, erythema, swelling; irritability, abnormal crying, malaise, drowsiness, appetite loss, myalgia, vomiting, fever; headache.
