Description
Each sachet contains: Glucosamine Sulfate (as Sodium Chloride) 1.5 g.
Action
Pharmacology: Glucosamine is an amino monosaccharide, naturally present in the body and especially in the articular cartilages. Glucosamine is a preferred substrate for the biosynthesis of glucosminoglycans. It stimulates the biosynthesis of proteoglycans. It restores damaged chondrocytes and, as sulfate is used in the therapy of arthrosis. This rebuilds the damaged articular cartilage and restores articular function. Oral administration is appropriate since glucosamine sulfate is well absorbed and does not irritate the gastrointestinal tract. Glucosamine therapy was associated with a gradual and progressive reduction of articular pain and tenderness and improvement in the range of motion. Beneficial pharmacologic effects reported for glucosamine include anti arthritic and anti inflammatory properties and an ability to stimulate proteoglycan synthesis through chondrocytes activation. Glucosamine sulfate have been given in the treatment of rheumatic disorders including osteoarthritis. Its availability in oral powder form makes it a convenient treatment for out-patients particularly in a long term therapy. Glucosamine powder also contain as inactive ingredients: Dextrates, sorbitol, silicon dioxide orange powder.
Indications/Uses
Treatment of rheumatic disorders including osteoarthritis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
One sachet daily dissolved in water or patient's favorite beverage.
Due to its mechanism of action, it may take 1-2 weeks of administration, or possibly longer before the patient will notice any effects.
Optimal effects on joint mobility have been observed after 12 weeks of administration. Recent data indicate that continuous, daily administration of glucosamine powder for 3 years protects joint structure.
Special Precautions
There are no known restrictions on food, beverages, or activity while taking glucosamine unless otherwise directed by the health care professional. It may be carried out safely because glucosamine sulfate has no known contra-indications nor does it produce drug interaction. Glucosamine Sulfate is a drug of first choice for the basis of treatment of patients with osteoarthritis. After oral administration, no toxic signs could be observed either as neurological, somatic or gastrointestinal symptoms or necropsy findings.

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
