Alpha lipoic acid, Benfotiamine, pyridoxine hydrochloride, inositol, lutein, folic acid, zeaxanthin, methylcobalamin.
Description
Each film-coated tablet contains: Alpha Lipoic Acid USP 100 mg, Benfotiamine 100 mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 60 mg, Inositol USP 50 mg, Lutein USP 6 mg, Folic Acid BP 4 mg, Zeaxanthin 2 mg, Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg.
Action
The trio of Methylcobalamin, Pyridoxine and Folic Acid helps in bringing down the plasma level of homocysteine, the major risk factor for Atherosclerosis.
Lipoic acid prevents plaque formation in the arteries by preventing LDL oxidation. Thus, combination reduces the major risk factors for atherosclerosis. Antioxidant Benfotiamine exhibits direct anti-oxidative capacity and prevents induction of DNA damage in vitro.
Inositol is a vitamin-like substance. It is used for diabetic nerve pain, panic disorder, high cholesterol, insomnia, cancer, depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, promoting hair growth, a skin disorder called psoriasis, and treating side effects of medical treatment with lithium. Benfotiamine may help a patient to alleviate any condition caused by thiamine deficiency.
Lutein and Zeaxanthin plays a role in preventing macular degeneration or reducing risk of progression of the diseases and protect the retina. found naturally in the human eye, these two carotenoids filter our high-energy blue light from the sun that can harm the macula lutea, the part of the retina that see detail in the center of your field of vision. Lutein and Zeaxanthin supplements can act like a pair of sunglasses for the macular lutea, filtering some high energy light exposure, lowering Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) risk, and improving visual acuity. They also may help with night driving and computer use by improving contrast sensitivity, and glare recovery. And they prevent oxidative damage, potentially thwarting dry eye and cataracts.
The primary use of this antioxidant is an "anti-AGE" supplement and useful venous neuropathies like diabetic neuropathy, alcoholic neuropathy and drug-induced neuralgia. Benfotiamine is a synthetic S-acyl derivative of thiamine (Vitamin B1). After absorption, benfotiamine can be dephosphorylated by cells bearing an ecto-alkaline phosphatase to the lipid-soluble S-benzoylthiamine. Benfotiamine should not be confused with allithiamine, a naturally occurring thiamine disulfide derivative with a distinct pharmacological profile.
It helps to reduce the excess biosynthesis and accumulation of a variety of glucose metabolites, including glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate.
Increased concentration of these glucose intermediates serve as a trigger to many of the mechanisms responsible for hyperglycemia-induced cell damage. Benfotiamine increases tissue levels of thiamine diphosphate, in turn increasing transketolase activity and resulting in a significant reduction in glucose metabolites.
Inositol is synthesized from glucose-6-phosphate and metabolized to phosphatidylinositol, which makes up a small, but very significant, component of cell membranes.
Zeaxanthin is a structural isomer that belongs to carotenoids family. Carotenoids are synthesized by plants for coloration and absorption of light. Zeaxanthin increases low macular pigment levels - a leading risk factor for AMD and protects eyes from harmful blue light induced photo-oxidative stress. Zeaxanthin helps sustain the health of your lenses, photoreceptors, and retinal lining.
Zeaxanthin prevents macular degeneration, the macular pigment is highly organized within the retina of the human eye. Retina contains two carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin, with the greatest concentration at the center. Within the central macula, zeaxanthin is the dominant component, up to 75% of the total, whereas in the peripheral retina, lutein predominates, usually being 67% or greater. So, zeaxanthin increase the macular pigment.
Zeaxanthin also plays a role in visual performance. It forms a filter (macula pigment) over the part of the retina responsible for detailed vision. This filter blocks out blue light and haze from strong light which in turn increases the eyes' tolerance for bright lights. Supplementation with the macular pigments has the potential to improve vision in our daily lives, particularly when our eyes are challenged by intense light such as glare from the sun, a camera flash, or blinding headlights at night.
Lutein, the powerful antioxidant which gives fruit and veggies a yellow color, helps protect your eyes from damaging light. Everyone is born with some lutein in our eyes, but we stop producing it. Lutein has been referred to as, "the eye vitamin" because of its ability to prevent or slow some eye conditions. This is a highly essential supplement for eye health; lutein forms a protective shield and prevents formation of cataracts as well as macular degeneration in the eyes.
Lutein is critically important for your eyes. This essential carotenoid has been researched in numerous clinical studies and shown to support the health of the macula, support vision under low-light conditions, and protect your eyes against oxidative stress caused by harmful blue light.
Indications/Uses
This vitamin is indicated for the following: Essential nutrient for neurons & protects the neurons from oxidative stress; Support to manage thiamine deficiency; Diabetic neuropathy; Supports and maintains healthy visual function, Macular degeneration, Retinitis pigmentosa and cataracts; Supports eye health and free radical protection; Anti-AGE supplement.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Take one tablet daily, or as directed by a doctor.
If the patient missed the dose for the day just take the next dose and the subsequent doses at the usual recommended schedule, i.e., once a day. Do not double the dose.
Overdosage
If the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage, consult a doctor.
Contraindications
If the patient is allergic to any ingredient of the product.
Special Precautions
Do not take more than the recommended dose.
If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, do not take any single supplement higher than normal doses unless recommended by a health care provider. The combination should only be used in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers if benefits outweigh the risks.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, do not take any single supplement higher than normal doses unless recommended by a health care provider. The combination should only be used in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers if benefits outweigh the risks.
Adverse Reactions
There are no disadvantages associated with the product taken under the recommended use or as directed by a physician. This product is safe.
Drug Interactions
Absorption of vitamin B12 from the GI tract may be decreased by aminoglycoside antibiotics, colchicine, extended-release potassium preparations and aminosalicylic add and its salts, anticonvulsants (e.g. phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone), cobalt irradiation of the small bowel, and by excessive alcohol intake lasting longer than 2 weeks. Neomycin-induced malabsorption of vitamin B12 may be increased by concurrent administration of colchicine.
Alpha lipoic acid may improve blood sugar control, so people with diabetes who are taking medication to lower blood sugar, such as metformin, glyburide, should only take alpha lipoic acid under supervision of a qualified health professional and have their blood sugar levels carefully monitored.
Medication that slow blood cloning (Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet drugs) interacts with Inositol Nicotinate.
