Reduction of elevated IOP in ocular HTN, chronic open-angle glaucoma, aphakic patients w/ glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, narrow angle & history of spontaneous or iatrogenically induced narrow-angle closure in the opposite eye in whom reduction of IOP is necessary. Concomitant therapy w/ ped glaucoma.
View Timoptol overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Reactive airway disease, bronchial asthma or a history of bronchial asthma, severe COPD. Sinus bradycardia; SA block 2nd & 3rd degree AV block; overt cardiac failure; cardiogenic shock.
CV disease including cardiac failure; patients w/ 1st degree heart block; asthma; mild/moderate COPD. Severe peripheral circulatory disturbance/disorders (eg, severe forms of Raynaud's disease or syndrome). May mask hypoglycemic symptoms in patients w/ DM; hyperthyroidism. Potential additive effect on IOP or known systemic effects of β-blockade. Choroidal detachment reported. Do not administer while wearing soft contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before application & reinsert not earlier than 15 min after use. Pregnancy & lactation.
Mydriasis may occasionally occur w/ concomitant use of epinephrine. Potentiated systemic β-blockade w/ quinidine, SSRIs & timolol. Potential additive effects, hypotension, marked bradycardia w/ oral Ca entry blocker, catecholamine-depleting drugs, antiarrhythmics, parasympathomimetics or β-adrenergic blockers. May exacerbate rebound HTN which can follow w/drawal of clonidine. Precaution in concomitant use w/ omidenepag isopropyl.
