Indications/Uses
Xyntha, Antihemophilic Factor (Recombinant) [BDDrFVIII] is indicated for: the control and prevention of hemorrhagic episodes; routine and surgical prophylaxis in patients with hemophilia A (congenital factor VIII deficiency or classic hemophilia).
Xyntha does not contain von Willebrand factor and hence is not indicated in von Willebrand's disease.
Pediatrics: Xyntha is appropriate for use in children of all ages, including newborns.
Geriatrics: Clinical studies of Xyntha did not include sufficient numbers of subjects aged 65 and over to determine whether they respond differently from younger subjects. Other reported clinical experience has not identified differences in responses between the elderly and younger patients. As with any patient receiving Xyntha, dose selection for an elderly patient should be individualized.
