Each capsule contains Glucosamine sulphate 2 KCl 663.31 mg equivalent to 500 mg of Glucosamine sulphate.
Glucosamine is a natural substance found in chitin, mucoproteins, and mucopolysaccharides. It is involved in the manufacture of glucosaminoglycan, which forms cartilage in tissue in the body. Glucosamine and its salts have shown to exert a protective effect against joint destruction.
As an adjunctive treatment of degenerative osteoarticular diseases, including primary and secondary osteoarthrosis such as: Cervical arthrosis, Gonarthrosis, Lumbosacral arthrosis, Periarthritis, Chronic and subacute arthritis, Coxofemoral Arthrosis, Dorsal arthrosis, Scapulohumeral arthrosis, Osteoarticular dystrophies.
Arthrosic Symptoms: Initial therapy: 1 capsule taken three times daily is recommended during a period of at least 8 weeks, total potassium (K) intakes 256.98 mg per day.
Follow-up therapy: Maintenance therapy should be followed for 3-4 months (or according to medical prescription) by administration of 1 capsule taken twice daily. Capsule should be taken 15 min before each meal.
In case of intense pains, it is advisable to take an anti-inflammatory drug in addition during the first days of treatment.
Prolonged use of Glucosamine has been reported to cause hyperglycemia. Blood glucose should be monitored periodically.
Caution is advised when it is to be used in diabetic patients, dosage of antidiabetic may need to be adjusted accordingly.
If it is to be used with warfarin, caution should be exercised because Glucosamine potentiate anticoagulant effect of warfarin.
Scientific evidence for the safe use of Glucosamine during pregnancy and lactation is not available.
