Na hyaluronate (hyalectin; MW 500-730 kDa)
Indications/Uses
Relieves pain & delays progression of knee OA. Relieves pain in OA of the hip, ankle & shoulder.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Inj into the affected joint. Knee & hip OA 1 pre-filled syringe once a wk for a total of 3-5 inj. Ankle OA 1 mL once wkly for a total of 5 inj. Shoulder OA 1 pre-filled syringe w/ a 3-day interval between each inj for a total of 3 inj. Symptomatic benefits are sustained for at least 6-12 mth following the end of therapy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to avian proteins. Infections or skin diseases at the inj site.
Special Precautions
Remove joint effusion prior to inj. Initiation of treatment should be evaluated when objective signs of inflammation are present. Do not overburden the joint immediately following IA inj.
Adverse Reactions
Transient pain, swelling, heat & redness may occur sporadically at the inj site.
Drug Interactions
Not for simultaneous administration or mixed w/ other IA inj. Do not use concomitantly w/ disinfectants containing quaternary ammon salts.
