Ibuprofen is used in the management of mild to moderate pain and inflammation in conditions such as dysmenorrhoea, headache including migraine, postoperative pain, dental pain, musculoskeletal and joint disorders such as ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, periarticular disorders such as bursitis and tenosynovitis , and soft-tissue disorders such as sprains and strains.
It is also used to reduce fever. Ibuprofen has also been used as an alternative to indometacin in the treatment of patent ductus arteriosus.
