Indications/Uses
HTN including the treatment of renal disease in hypertensive diabetic patients.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN Initially 150 mg once daily, increased necessary to 300 mg once daily. Renal disease in HTN type 2 DM Initially 150 mg once daily increased to 300 mg once daily. Haemodialysis & elderly >75 yr Initially 75 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ renal artery stenosis. Correct vol depletion before starting therapy. Avoid use of K-sparing diuretics. Renal & hepatic impairment. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, headache, dose-related orthostatic hypotension; impaired renal function; hyperkalemia, myalgia & arthralgia; resp tract disorders, back pain, GI disturbances, fatigue, neutropenia.
Drug Interactions
Potentiated by drugs & other agents that lower BP. Additive hyperkalaemic effect w/ K supplements, K-sparing diuretics or other drugs that can cause hyperkalaemia. CYP450 isoenzymes.
