IVAdult ICU sedation Loading dose of 1 mcg/kg over 10 min, followed by maintenance infusion 0.2-0.7 mcg/kg/hr. May be adjusted in increments of 0.1 mcg/kg/hr or higher to achieve desired level of sedation if after approx 5 min sedation is not adequate. Procedural sedation Loading dose of 1 mcg/kg over 10 min. For less invasive procedures, loading dose of 0.5 mcg/kg over 10 min. Maintenance dose: Initiate at 0.6 mcg/kg/hr, may be titrated from 0.2-1 mcg/kg/hr until desired clinical effect is achieved. Awake fiberoptic intubation 0.7 mcg/kg/hr until endotracheal tube is secured. Elderly >65 yr Loading dose: 0.5 mcg/kg over 10 min.
