Indications/Uses
Treatment of HTN. Protection in patients w/ diabetic nephropathy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN 50 mg, may be increased to 100 mg/day once or in 2 divided doses. Diabetic nephropathy Initially 50 mg/day, may be increased to 100 mg. Patient w/ hepatic impairment Initially 25 mg. Elderly w/o hepatic insufficiency 50 mg daily, may be increased to 100 mg/day in 2 divided doses. Moderate to severe renal impairment, intravascular or salt depletion 25 mg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Renal & hepatic impairment. Renal artery stenosis. Correct vol depletion prior to treatment. Lactation. Childn <6 yr w/ CrCl <30 mL/min/1.73 m2. Elderly patients w/ renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, headache, orthostatic & dose-related hypotension; hypersensitivity reactions eg, rash, urticaria, pruritus & angioedema.
Drug Interactions
Fluconazole, phenytoin & grapefruit juice; rifampicin; spironolactone & other K-sparing diuretics; ACE inhibitors, β-blockers; lithium.
