Each 10 ml syrup contains 60 mg of Levodropropizine.
Levodropropizine is an antitussive agent that exerts peripheral action on the tracheobronchial tree.
Symptomatic treatment of cough in adults and children older than 2 years.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: 10 ml (equivalent to 60 mg of Levodropropizine) up to 3 times daily at intervals of at least 6 hours.
Children over the age of 2 years: The pediatric dose is 1 mg/kg, 3 times daily, for a total daily dose of 3 mg/kg.
The preparation is administered orally.
This medication should be taken between meals, since the effects of concomitant food consumption have not yet been determined.
Treatment duration: The treatment should be taken until the cough clears up, or as directed by a physician, for a period not longer than 7 days. If symptoms have not stopped after this period, treatment should be stopped and a physician should be consulted.
In case of an overdosage with enhancement of side effects, gastric lavage may be useful, followed by additional treatment under medical supervision. No specific antidote exists.
This drug should not be used in patients: presenting a known or possible hypersensitivity towards the product; with excessive discharge of mucus; with limited mucociliary function (Kartagener's syndrome, Ciliary dyskinesia); when liver function is severely limited; during pregnancy and lactation; bronchorrhea.
Care should be taken for patients with serious renal insufficiency.
The safety and efficacy of Levodropropizine in children of less than 24 months has not been established.
Cough remedies are symptomatic remedies that should only be used pending diagnosis of the causative disease and/or pending the effect of the treatment of the underlying disease. It is recommended that such remedies should be used only for a short period of time (maximum 14 days).
Effect on the ability to drive vehicles or use machines: Drivers of vehicles and machine operators are warned of the possibility of drowsiness with the use of this drug.
Use in the Elderly: The pharmacokinetic properties of Levodropropizine in older patients do not seem to differ greatly from those in younger patients. This suggests that the dose and the dose interval do not have to be adjusted for older patients. However, necessary care should be taken with older patients because there are indications that the pharmacodynamic sensitivity to many drugs changes with age.
This drug should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.
The following side effects sometimes occur: Gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea.
Central nervous system: exhaustion, somnolence, dizziness, headache, numbness, faintness, decreased consciousness.
Cardiovascular system: palpitations.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur in predisposed patients because the product contains parabens.
Allergic skin reactions were observed in rare cases.
Consult a physician or the pharmacist in the event other side effects appear.
No interaction with benzodiazepines were observed during clinical trials, however, care should be taken when sedative drugs are simultaneously administered to particularly sensitive individuals.
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C.
